Crystallization allows separation of the solute from the solvent, generally water, by precipitation in a crystal form. It occurs by changing the conditions of solubility by varying concentration (Red line) or temperature (Blue line).
The crystallization by concentrationgenerally removes water by evaporation (Red line).
The crystallization by cooling causes the crystallization modifying the temperature of the solution (Blue line). It is cheaper but not always applicable, as it is related to the solubility curve.
The crystallization is widely used in the treatment of industrial waste, such as:
Purification solution
Treatment of high salinity wastewater
One of the most important application of the crystallization process is obtained when the recovery of the solute (crystal) and reuse of the condensate (water) are achieved.
Crystallization is also applied as a way of reducing operating costs in the treatment of "difficult" wastewater, due to the recovery of the water and disposal of the concentrate/crystallized.
Crystallization is a process that requires energy that can be "recovered" by waste energy or directly supplied; Ecoteam studies every application optimizing both the production process and the energy consumption. Ecoteam has developed its own range of crystallizer unit using the best technologies such as Heat Pump (HP) or the recovery of energy flows (HW) which, whether correctly applied, may solve many problems of industrial wastewater treatment.
